Work Report on 3, Oct. 2004.

1. I've finished runing DM to test the sensitity of mountain height with respect to different impining angle cases. The mountain heights h_m are (1) 1500m (2) 2500m and (3) 3500m. And the incoming angle of the incoming tracks are (1) 0 degree (2) 20deg (3) 40deg and (4) 60deg.

2. Several important facts are obseved from the results.
a. Southward deflection in the windward and northward recovery in the lee side.
b. The vortex motion with a normal impinging angle leads to a large deflection. The impinging angle is defined as the angle between the incoming direction of the vortex and the axis of the topography.
c. There exists a track converging behaviors for those tracks with a small impinging angle to the topography.

3. Futher works (this week)
a. To test the impinging angle greater than 90 degree cases. This may be simulated by a strong southward steering flow cases in the typhoon motions.
b. To test different shape of topography. This may be tested to see the track converging behaviors.
